The month of May in Whatcom brings many good things: flowers, sunshine, and -- dare we -- thoughts of summer. But most of all (and most importantly to all of us in Bellingham) it brings Ski to Sea. So to celebrate the weekend that shuts this town down and transforms her into party-mode, we’re joining the fun and throwing our own Ski to Sea weekend block party!

Saturday, May 28 (the day before the race), when you’re enjoying the festivities in downtown Fairhaven, wander our way and drink a beer with us. We’ll be hard to miss - with a beer garden, live music, local food trucks, and more, we put our heads together and decided that it was probably best that we just go ahead and block off the entire street. It’s our first block party, with hopefully many more, and we’d love for you to be a part of history. You know that old saying about racing fast with a hangover? Neither do we, but we’re convinced that canoe leg is more fun after a night at our house. Not only will we be celebrating our Fairhaven Park Tr-ALE during this party, Recreation Northwest will be there to get it all cranking.

Simply put: if you don’t already, you’ll love Recreation Northwest http://www.recreationnorthwest.org/. They promote outdoor recreation as a way to bring people together and preserve the places we all use a playground. Recreation Northwest bridges the gap between enthusiasts, businesses, and local government to help maintain trails and land, as well as facilitating multi-sport races like the Northwest Traverse and Quest Adventure Races. We brewed the Fairhaven Park Tr-ALE with Recreation Northwest specifically in mind, and we’re stoked they’re able to join us and help us share it with you!

Keep an eye on your inbox for more specifics on the Stones Throw Ski to Sea Party as we lock down the bands and food, but our gears are cranking, and we’re itching to shut down the street and party with you the day before the race!
