Fall means Fresh Hop Season! Okay, but first things first: Wow! THANK YOU so much to everyone who helped make our community Fresh Hop Pale Ale happen! So many people donated their hops and time to picking them, and we can’t express how much we appreciate all of this.

After collecting all of the donated hops, we then walked up the block and picked our hops we had been growing over at the Chuckanut Center, and got to work prepping them for the brew...

So because of you all, we were able to brew a double batch of our Fresh Hop Pale Ale! While we are waiting to know more as it ferments in the tank, it will be around 6.2% and primarily features Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook fresh hops.

And the best part is, we are really excited to release this beer to everyone at our last Block Party of the year, the Fresh Hop and Fall Harvest Swap Festival on October 20th! Click here to learn more about that party, and get ready for some dang tasty Fresh Hop beer!

AND OH YEAH, THERE’S MORE - WAY MORE!

Mosaic Harvest.jpg

First up will be the Mosaic Harvest, a dry-hopped Blonde Ale, NOW ON TAP. This slightly-hoppy blonde ale was brewed with Mosaic and Mt. Hood hops and checks in at 5.3% ABV and 35 IBU.

Second is Sticks and Stones, our collaborative IPA with Big Stick BBQ. One of Bellingham’s favorite trucks, the two teams sat down together to craft the perfect IPA to pair with Rick and Linda’s finger-lickin’ BBQ. The Sticks and Stones IPA features a prominent blend of the five Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, Centennial, and El Dorado hops. Look for this IPA to sit at 6.1% ABV and 41 IBU. ON TAP NOW as well, but don’t expect this one to last too long…

Third is the return of the Midnight Rider! It’s been a while since we’ve had our Schwarzbier Dark Lager brewed, and as the warm summer transitions to that cool and crisp fall, it’s the perfect season for a nice light-yet-rich and chocolatey dark lager. This Schwarzbier is easy drinking at 5.6% ABV and 30 IBU.

There is also a special, 1-keg-only, Paws for a Beer Fresh Hop edition of the Flat Penny Pale Ale! Fresh-hopped by Paws for a Beer owner Rylan himself with the Cascade and Centennial hops they grew at their awesome dog bar, this fun collaboration won’t last long. Only two kegs of the Flat Penny Pale Ale were fresh hopped, and one is currently on tap at Paws. We put the second one on tap here at Stones Throw TONIGHT, WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 3RD! Expect the Flat Penny to have a more floral and herbal aroma from the Fresh Hops, with slightly more notes of citrus and spice in the body. 1 keg only - when it goes, she gone!

Next up in the exciting realm of special batches are the Brett Saison bottles. Barrel aged in Hungarian Oak and bottle conditioned, these 750ml Brett Saisons are 6.0% ABV and 40 IBU. With great care care and joy, our second-ever bottle project was created over the months for friends and family to take home this season or enjoy in the taproom (just make sure your bartender is the one opening the bottle for you) after purchase. Brewed using locally grown and malted grains, Belgian Saison yeast, Saaz hops, and Brettanomyces. There is a limited amount of these bottles, which go on sale Tuesday, October 23rd. Price TBD.

And for you flagship diehards - we know, we know… It has been a surprisingly long time since we have consistently had the Raincountry Liquid Sunshine Pilsner-Style Lager on tap. But it’s brewed and fermenting in the tanks and on the way! And so is the Neighborhood IPA! In the further and farther future, expect to see another batch of the Total Eclipse of the Hop Cascadian Dark Ale and Amber Ale on the way. Cheers!
