Beer oh beer… 2017 is going to be a big one. This year, Tony and the team here at Stones Throw is going to attempt to double the amount of batches we brew from last year. So without any further delay, let’s get into all the news about beer brewed in a shipping container that’s fit to print!
We learned quickly after the first batch how much you all loved the Raincountry Liquid Sunshine Lager, so we made it a high-priority brew and are happy to announce that it’s back on tap again! Named in honor of our good friends at Raincountry Refrigeration who helped design and build the chilled cup holders at our bar, the Liquid Sunshine Lager is a classic light-lager with the scent of rising bread dough and spicy herbal hops. The dry Pilsner malt backbone, complemented with an easy bitterness, shines light through the rainy Northwest season. The Raincountry Liquid Sunshine sits at 5.3% ABV and 20 IBU, and is best enjoyed from the chilled cup holders inside the taproom designed by Mark Vondracheck at Raincountry Refrigeration.
The Golden Rule IPA has also made its return! Primarily brewed around Amarillo hops, tones of citrus and orange peels add a bright, higher tone to the classic hoppiness of a bitter-forward IPA. The light, golden, body allows you to taste the slight spice. The Golden Rule is a nice, solid, 6.0% ABV and 43 IBU. And remember the Golden Rule… always drink unto others as you wish others would drink unto you!
New on tap is the second Stones Throw SMASH. This single malt, single hop beer was brewed with local Copeland Pale from Skagit Valley Malting and Cascade hops, and is 6.3% ABV and 60 IBU. The rich pale body with a faint maltiness is balanced by a dry-hopped bitterness. Floral and grapefruit tones come through the body.
Just in time for the spring season, we have a freshly-brewed farmhouse ale on tap. The Snowmelt Saison is a light, traditional ale with a green apple skin aroma and nice tart finish. The crisp body has subtle tones of pear, while the hop presence takes a backseat to the earthy and modest spice. The Snowmelt Saison is a modest 5.0% ABV and 30 IBU...the perfect lunch beer.
And nearing the end of the last keg, the Sun Don’t Shine CDA is almost gone… hurry in to drink what last bit survives before this CDA goes away!
In the further future, an India Pale Lager will be pouring from the Stones Throw Taps. And most excitingly, on April 23, we will release the Roggenstein Beer the team of local female brewers crafted in the Stones Throw Brewery on Big Boots Brew Day. The Roggenstein Beer is a historical style, using crystals from heated rocks to create a more complex ale flavor. More about our Big Boots Brew Day in our community write-up!
