All eyes are on 10 days in September, as summer comes to surprisingly warm close and we inch closer to everyone’s favorite week in town, Bellingham Beer Week. It’s not like we Bellinghamsters need an excuse to drink craft beer, but we keep finding ways to celebrate all the great brewing in this town.

Founded and crafted by the good people at Tap Trail (another excuse Bellingham created to drink more beer), this year’s Beer Week begins on September 9th and lasts through September 18th. Check the Bellingham Beer Week website for the full schedule of events, but the party shifts south to Fairhaven for the day as Stones Throw hosts the “Kill the Keg” Party on September 11th, from 2pm to 8pm.

This friendly competition between the Bellingham breweries will have a ⅙ barrel from each brewery lined up at the party, racing to see which one blows empty first. The winning brewery receives a trophy from Tap Trail, and the lucky soul who finishes off the beer gets loaded up with some good swag. Word in the brewery is that Tony has a special Coffee Lager, dubbed the "Fairhaven Fix," brewing for the party…

As per usual with a Stones Throw party, Fairhaven Pizza will be slinging slices while an assortment of live bands play the day away. Cubano Cubano and Simmering Java will be the two food trucks joining the fun, as well as a handful of games for all ages.

Can you volunteer from 5:30 - 8:30 on Saturday, 11th September for Stones Throw Brewery? We are looking for 4x Beer Pourers with MAST permits, 4x gate keepers and one other helper. Email nadine@stonesthrowbrewco.com or stop by the brewery anytime!

Things are lining up to be a damn good week of beer drinking, all over Bellingham!

. . .

Conveniently scheduled during the 10 day party is the 15th annual Bellingham Traverse, the popular relay race throughout town that celebrates the journey of wild salmon. The relay includes running, biking, and paddling legs. You can register to race the traverse Chinook (solo), Coho (tandem), or CHUM (relay team) style. And a big shout-out to Recreation northwest for putting on the Bellingham Traverse for what is undoubtedly going to be another awesome year. Now, all you need to do is put down your beer for a few hours to channel your inner wild salmon!

On the Horizon: October isn’t too far off, which means the 6th annual Shoot the Trails Awards is coming up. Bellingham Technical College is hosting the WMBC event on October 8th at 6pm. As always, the photo and video contest will be full of raffles, beer, food, prizes, and...you know, bikes! Click here to learn about photo and video submission guidelines. And support your local mountain bike trail builders! Stones Throw is stoked to help sponsor the event this year - see you all there!
